According to the February 2003 Cruiser Magazine 2003 buyer's guide edition, as followed are the specs given for the Harley V-Rod, as well as our beloved Suzuki Savage.

Carburetion: EFI
Tranmission: Belt Drive
Seat height: 27.1
Weight: 596lbs
Fuel capacity: 4.0 gal
Quarter mile time/mph: 11.88 sec. /113.8 mph
200-yd top-gear accel. from 50 mph: 82.8 mph
Fuel mileage: 47.1 miles per gallon

Savage price: $4,299
Displacement: 652cc SOHC 4 valve single
Carburetion: 1, 40mm
Transmission: Belt Drive (HEY A SIMILARITY!!)
Seat Height: 27.6
Weight: 352lbs
Fuel capacity: 2.8 (BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!)
Qurter mile time/mph: 16.33 sec./77.2 mph(POOCH)
200-yd top gear accel. from 50 mph.: 68.9 mph
Fuel Mileage: 51.1 miles per gallon ( only the Sportser surpasses the Savage on mileage, 53.0)

Honestly not much of a comparison, except maybe the belt drive. IMHO the V-Rod is a very cool motorcycle, but if I am going to spend the big money on the big muscel cruiser, I think I would go with the new V92 Victory Vegas, within whom boast the displacement of a 1507cc SOHC 8 valve V-twin. The Vegas has a price tag of $14,999 and quarter mile speeds some where in the middle 90's. Plus the style is tons better than the V-Rod. Once again just my opinion.

But if you are looking for an overall power cruiser regardless of looks or weight, my money goes on the timeless Yamaha V-max, tho the design got lost in the 1980s', it is still the worlds fastest production cruiser, clocking in at 117 mph in the quarter. What a legacy!
